David Axelrod Advises Against Current Obama Campaign Message

The segment opens with a statement that ‘The middle class is still filled with anxiety even though there are jobs’ and asks Axelrod if that is correct?
Axelrod agrees and then elaborates: “As you cite these statistic saying the economy is improving, you almost do political damage to yourself. If you stand up and claim great progress you’re only frustrating this alienated middle-class more.”

Regarding the 41st President, George H. W. Bush accurately campaigning that the recession was over and the economy was improving:
Axelrod: “Well the other thing is I think Bush tastelessly did it often from the 9th hole … the impression you got was he was out of touch with the experience of average people”

You can’t make this stuff up.
